Professor Mladen Todorovic is a Senior Scientific Officer and coordinator of the Climate Change Knowledge Unit at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM), Italy, a centre devoted to the development of agriculture, fisheries and sustainable food systems in rural and coastal Mediterranean areas. His research focuses on water and land management, soil water balance and crop growth modelling, water saving in agriculture, eco-efficiency in irrigation, and the impact of climate change on crop water requirements and productivity.
Prof Todorovic is a member of MedECC (Network of Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Change) and one of the authors of the First Mediterranean Assessment Report on Climate and Environmental Change in the Mediterranean Basin – Current Situation and Risks for the Future.

” The impact of climate change on the Mediterranean agriculture is already evident in many areas, and especially in arid and semi-arid regions. Frequent extreme events trigger the decline of agricultural production, further depletion and deterioration of water resources, and increased pressures on food security and socio-economic development, particularly in marginal rural zones. Hence, the achievements of the MED-GOLD project are of great importance for the Mediterranean society and environment”
