Partners of MED-GOLD  meet in Brussels to develop user-centered operational definition for reliability and skill of climate information in decision-making in the agriculture sector

The world cannot be understood without numbers. But the world cannot be understood with numbers alone

Hans Rosling

Users of climate information want seasonal forecasts to be 70% reliable and longer-term predictions to be at least 80% reliable.

  • How do climate experts interpret this numbers?
  • What would be the underlying operational definition of such a user-centered concept of reliability?
  • Shall MED-GOLD use the same terminology as scientists do? How is the concept best communicated (say translated) in other european languages?

The objective of the MED-GOLD workshop in Bruxelles, 11 of February, is to answer these questions from a user’s perspective, and make advances towards turning climate-related information into added value for users.
